  • The yard guys came by today to see exactly what they were getting in to and to give us an estimate.  Turns out we have poison ivy AND poison oak in the front…so yeah.  Fun times.  They did appreciate the warning, though.  I guess they were working on another yard last week and found some, so they got torn up on their arms like me.  It’s like being in a secret club, except instead of benefits, you get PAIN!

Cara’s feeding herself dinner tonight for the first time.  I still have to keep an eye on her, but she’s doing it all by herself for the most part.  She’s having meaty raviolis in sauce with mixed veggies.  I’d put pictures up, but I seem to have accidentally put the camera in one of the boxes of stuff I have to sort through.

Ooo!  Bought Sweeny Todd on DVD, as well as seasons 1 and 2 of CHiPs.  Yes…I am aware of how big a nerd I am.

And…that’s it.  Not really too much exciting stuff happening down here.  Maybe something will happen tomorrow…

    Bye for now!

  • Turns out the hospital had a whole bunch of pity on me and gave me a whole goody-bag of drugs.  First they gave me some kind of shot (it had a bunch of white stuff in it…I think it was a steroid shot).  Then they gave me some little steroid pills to take, as well as some pills to stop the itching (which also make me sleepy) and some antibiotics because I had a weak moment and scratched my arms and ended up opening them up for infection.  (Whoo!  Run-on sentence FTW!)

As an added bonus, they gave me some topical creme for any more itching, but I haven’t needed to use it yet.

So yeah…I’m on all sorts of happy stuff.  Except now my arms look like I have psoriasis, so people stare at me when I go out in public.

    Oh well.

Off to take a nap now before work.  Bye-bye!

June 11, 2008

  • Well, the poison ivy isn’t getting any better, so I’m off to the base hospital today to see if they’ll give me the good stuff.  Someone at work said there’s a shot they have that’ll clear it up in 10-12 hours…

    I hope!

Guys at work were half-teasing me, but it turned to honest advice when they saw how hard I was trying NOT to scratch.  Since it’s so bad (especially on my right arm), my supervisor said if I show it to the hospital people and also casually mention I have a baby in the house, they should whip the shot right out.

I’ll report later on if I got it and if it worked.

    Bye for now!

June 7, 2008

  • Well…turns out I’ve been ignoring my flowerbeds for far too long.

I tried to clean them out this week, but it turns out I was too tired.  After about two days, Patrick and I decided to just hire someone to clean up the yard instead.  Turns out that’s a great idea, but a little too late for me…

    Poison oak.

Turns out we had some growing in our front yard that I just pulled out without even knowing what it was.  In fact, I just realized what it was last night.  Up until then, I just thought I had some really bad bug bites.

I am in ichy pain…and it is not fun.

Anyway, I’m off to feed Cara breakfast and then wrap up my arms again.  Have a nice weekend.

    Away!

EDIT: I think it’s poison ivy, not oak.  Either way, there were bunches and bunches of vines of it in the front flowerbed.  I know when we first moved in, the Orkin guy said we had some poison ivy in the backyard.  I guess it decided to migrate up front.

So, off to clean my arms and put fresh bandages on.  It’s the worst on my right arm, but I managed to get some on both arms, neck, left shoulder and on my face.  The stuff on my face isn’t too bad, but there’s a splotch of it right under my left eye, so I have to really try to not itch it.

    See you kids later!

  • So…yeah.

We made it home safe and sound and in one piece…and I’m already wishing I could get another break.  Patrick isn’t quite done with all the painting yet, so things are messy.  It was a little depressing to come home to such a mess, but I know I’ll be able to get it cleaned up (I hope!).

Tomorrow marks the beginning of all the yard work…I have to say, I’m looking forward to it, but not as much as I would if I didn’t have to go to work at night in the middle of it all.  Oh well.

I’ll blab more later.  For now, I need a nap and a shower before work.

    Bye-bye.

May 14, 2008

  • Hey all.

Not too much going on down here.  It’s been raining for almost two days straight, so everything is very wet and depressing.

    However…

    Pictures!

    Picture 058

    Yep…she’s still drumming.

    Picture 060

She looks angry about something in this one.  “I’m going to beat someone’s head in…”

    Picture 059

She woke up with a mini-pompador this morning.  It was awesome!

    And…yeah.  That about covers it.

    Away!

April 22, 2008

  • Well, still not too much happening down here.  However, there is good news:

Kat and Cara will be in Pa from May 24th to May 31st!

Live in concert!  ( I wish.  Lol)

So yeah.  Chris and Laurice are coming at the same time, so it’ll be a chance for the family to get together one last time before Chris goes to Iraq and I go to Turkey.  Patrick can’t come because of work stuff, but it’ll give him plenty of time to paint the kitchen and do some other stuff to get the house ready for sale while Cara and I are gone.

    Speaking of which…

    Picture time!  (…again!)

    Picture 056

Sure, he can smile.  He’s not the one who has to clean up the mess.  Actually, he did clean it up …

    Picture 055

…but not before poor Tsume took a dust bath.

    Picture 057

    “I’m a rocker!”

    Nap time for now.  Bye-bye!

April 16, 2008

  • Well, Cara got her hair trimmed today.  Which means…

    MORE PICTURES!!!  (Whoo!)

    Picture 053

“Huh?  A picture?  Okay, I guess I can let you take a few…”

    Picture 052

Just for Kellie: See, we didn’t cut off the cute curls.    Just trimmed the bangs so they wouldn’t poke her in the eyes anymore.

    Picture 054

    “GAH!  My eyes!  Flash…too close…  Now…blind…”

    Haircut Mission accomplished!

April 15, 2008

  • Hey all.

Still not much happening down here.  Trying to get things in order, which involves a lot of cleaning, re-arranging, and loss of motivation due to the siren’s call of the computer.  In other words, we have a bunch of crap to do, but we’d rather have fun on-line than do it.

    But, since it’s been a while…

    Pictures!

    Picture 049

    “Haircut?  I don’t need no stinking haircut…”

    Picture 051

“Wait!  Don’t leave!  I changed my mind about the haircut!”

So yeah…she seriously needs a haircut.  Only thing is, Patrick’s mom did her last one.  And I’ve never had my hair cut down here in Louisiana (always got one when I went to Pennsylvania), so I have no idea where to take her.

Oh well…I’m sure I’ll figure something out.

    Bye for now.

    P.S. – TAXES!!!!!

April 5, 2008

  • Whoo!

Finally got things straightened out with the orders, so now I can tell you…

Patrick and I are going to Turkey!

As previously said, at least I’ll be leaving in the middle of October, but not until after Heather’s wedding.  So we’ll be up there for that.  (Yay!)

Also, Tsume’s going to be living with Mom and Dad while we’re gone, because the trip over there would be too hard on him and he wouldn’t get his medication in the plane.  So I’ll probably fly over first with Aozora to get things set up.  Then Patrick’ll follow the next month with Cara.

    Which I find hideously appropriate…

Patrick went to Guam and left me alone with Cara for 4 1/2 months.  Now, I know some time has passed, but still…every now and then, I get a little resentful for some reason.  Not at him, he never knows, but it still isn’t healthy.  I see forcing him to spend 12+ hours on a plane with a toddler will more than make up for everything.  (And yes, I know I’m evil…but I’m still going to laugh)

So yeah…other than that, not much going on.  Did our taxes today (whoo…).  And now I’m off to play a little WoW.

    Away!
