  • I know it’s been a while, but something on the news has caught my attention and now I’m ready to rant.

Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize = BULLSHIT!

Honestly, what has the man done?  Nominations for the prize are due in by mid-Frbruary, and he’d only been in office since 20 Jan.  I understand that part of the description of the award “may be awarded to persons or organizations that are in the process of resolving a conflict or creating peace”, but considering the ongoing wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan are probably still going to go on for a bit longer, I’d say that’s a little far-fetched.

From what I’ve read, he won it for “his promise of disarmament and diplomacy.”  The hell?!  A freaking award for a To-Do List?!  And as for the cut-back on nukes…yeah, let’s just say that from my perspective, that’s another load of bullshit.  From what I’ve seen, we’re EXPANDING the amount of money and effort into the program, which seems a bit silly to me if we’re going to be cutting it back.

Fwew…think I’m out of steam for now.  I could probably go on, but it’s still early here and I have muffins to bake before Cara wakes up.  I might put together a more coherent rant later, but I got the important pieces out for now.

*Disclaimer for the Odd-Visiting…Visitor* No, I’m not racist.

  • Hey all!

Still alive…but in a great deal of pain.  Just got a new tattoo!

    Tattoo! 001

Koi fishies!  Koi fishies for Cara!

    Tattoo! 002

I wanted to get a new tattoo, but it had to have some sort of meaning, or else there was no point.  So I thought…Cara’s zodiac sign is Pisces, which is two fish.  Koi are pretty awesome fish…I’ll look for a design like that.

And there you have it.  It’s a little bigger than I originally envisioned, but I am still happy nonetheless.

  • HolyCrapATitle!

    Could it be…?

Yes!  Two days in a row!  Except I don’t really have much to say today…

But I do have a picture, courtesy of icanhascheezburger.com:

Not too much else happening right now.  I’ve been spending more time lately mucking about with my characters from the stories Kellie and I wrote in my head…it’s turning out rather interesting!  I really need to start writing some of the stuff down…maybe even post some of it here.  In fact, maybe tomorrow…we’ll see.

  • Crap, it’s really been almost two months since I last wrote?!  I feel shame…

Well then, let’s settle in for an update.

We ended up failing our inspection, so they’re going to be coming back near the end of the year for another one.  It’s not really a bad thing (since our section wasn’t the one that failed the base), just annoying.  I’ve been approved for my corrective eye surgery, so by the end of the year I should be able to see again!  Or if not 100%, at least not be totally blind without my glasses on.  Also, I only need three more classes to get my CCAF (Community College of the Air Force) degree, so I’ll have an associates in my current job.  Which doesn’t do me much good except to say “Hey look!  I have a degree!”.  But still, it’s free education.  I’d be silly to pass it up.  Also, once all that’s done, I’m going to enroll at University of Maryland to earn my English degree.  I was going to do Russian Studies as my minor, but it’s not available for the on-line classes.  So it looks like Biology is it…which means free tutoring from Mom!  (I love you…)

    Let’s see…what else…

If you’ve read Cara’s blog (which you should, there are new pictures!), then you already know about Patrick’s grandpa (his dad’s dad).  He died August 26th, after going to the hospital on the 25th with a brain hemorrhage.  No one was expecting it…came completely out of nowhere.

Not too much is going on right now, however, I did promise Mom pictures of the house.  After a whole bunch of cleaning and organizing (and recleaning and reorganizing after Cara decided to “help”), we have pictures!

    House 002

Here’s a picture of our neighborhood (we live at the end of a cul-de-sac).

    House 003

    Our house!

    House 001

Backyard…definitely smaller than the one we had in Louisiana.

    Cara! 002

Cara’s room, complete with Secret Base!  There are two closets on the left and one on the right.

    Cara! 015

Our room, with kitties on the bed!  We have two closets on the right.

    Cara! 003

Our new dressers!  Custom-made in the Alley by the Turks.  I love them so…

    Cara! 004

Living room!  Sorry it’s so dark…we need to get a lamp for the corner.  That door leads to the backyard.

    Cara! 006

Other side of the living room…I still have a little organizing to do.

    Cara! 012

Dining room!  And yes…that’s another door to the backyard.  Why we need two with such a small yard is beyond me.

    Cara! 013

Kitchen!  Not really that exciting, but still!

There are no pictures of the bathroom or laundry room, mostly because the first has already been in a bunch of Cara pictures, and the second is just…rather boring.

Oh, but we’re not done yet!  You know how cats are supposed to hate water…?

    Cara! 011

…apparently, Kisa didn’t get that memo.

    Cara! 010

    “Racing penguin will be mine…”

And I think we’re done for now.  I’ll try to be better about this…but with the craziness at work right now, I can’t make any promises.

    Away!

July 19, 2009

  • As pointed out in Cara’s site (if you haven’t been there already), I’m kind of sick today.  It still isn’t a full-blown cold, but I definitely don’t feel well.  However, I do have pictures of the kitties!

    002

The one in front is Kisa.  The handsome little gentleman hiding in the back is Neko.

    001

Too bad he isn’t a girl…then I could’ve named him “Korova”, which is Russian for cow.

July 16, 2009

  • Blech…so tired…

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately.  Everyone here’s been tweaking about our annual inspection, so things have not been fun at work.  12-hour days, only Sundays off…it’s getting pretty old very quickly.  And the inspection is still about 10 days away!

Let’s see…what else?  Oh we have kitties!  They’re not psycho-demon inbreds like James and Wolfie were…at least, they don’t seem to be.  And they actually look like siblings.  Once again, we have a boy and a girl.  I’d have pictures, but they’re still getting used to the house and everything.  I don’t want to creep them out too much yet.

However, they have names!  The girl is Kisa, which is Russian for “kitty”.  The boy is Neko…Kellie should be able to tell you what that one means.  Not very creative, I know…but they have to be easy for Cara to say.

Blargh…sleepy already.  I’ll try to write some more later.  And before the flames come in…yes, there will soon be more Cara pictures up.  Just please be patient, silly little ones.

    Nighty-night!

May 22, 2009

  • Hey all!  Sorry it’s been so long…this week especially has been sucky.

To sum it up quickly…three seperate things in the house broke all at once, the last of which was finally fixed today.  Also, Cara is sick again, but it’s been a while since she’s had a cold this bad.  At first the doctor thought she might have asthma or bronchitis because she was so congested she was wheezing.  Just as he decided she needed a chest x-ray, Cara let loose with 3 good sneezes that cleared up her lungs.  Which means it’s just a bunch of mucus in her sinuses that’s running down her throat.  So he prescribed her some drops and she’s all good to go now.

Patrick’s state-side right now for some training and won’t be back until near the end of June, which means it’s just me and Cara holding down the house right now…which is probably why all those things broke at once.  Law of TDYs…if it’s going to break, it’ll wait until about 1 week after the spouse is gone.

Oh, and we’re getting our dressers delivered this weekend!  They have several furniture shops in the “Alley”, a row of shops and restaurants just outside the base.  So Patrick and I went to one and got 2 dressers custom-made to match our bed, since we left our old dressers state-side because they were pieces of crap.  The one even has a mirror above it, so it’s going to double as my vanity.  (And yes…I realize how girly and uncharacteristic that is of me).

And…that’s about it for now.  We have a three-day weekend coming up, so I’m going to try and finally finish getting the house in order so I can take some pictures for you all.

Oh, and there are a few more Cara pictures on the way in the next day or two.  Be watching!

May 8, 2009

  • Goodness, I really need to get better at remembering to write more!  Especially since Patrick went stateside on Wednesday for some training (lucky bum…) and won’t be back until around June 26th.  So it’s just me and Cara for about 2 months, the timing of which really sucks since we have a big inspection coming up at the beginning of July.  Which means everyone at work is going to be pinging, and continue to reinforce my dislike of them.

    Blech.

In other news, I took this week off of work to try and finally finish unpacking the house.  It’s been going rather well, but it looks like we might have to move to another house.  I don’t know if it’s just the house settling or what, but the last week or two I’ve started seeing a whole bunch of cracks appearing in several walls.  And they’re visibly getting bigger.  So I had to neat up the house to make it presentable for the housing guys to come inspect the damage, but it also means I might have to pack everything up, move to a new house, then unpack and reorganize everything a second time…without Patrick to help.  But that’s not written in stone…I’m going to call them Monday to try and get a verdict.

    Blech again.

So, is there anything positive happening here?  Well…Cara’s doing well.  I need to post some more pictures of her, or else my dad is going to get cranky.  Lol.

Hmm…I should also take some pictures of the house…even if we don’t end up staying in this one, it’d probably be good to give you guys a peek at our tiny, tiny house.

Well, that’s about it for now.  I’ll try to get better at writing.

    Bye for now!
