  • Hey all!  Still alive, juus very busy.  However, you should definitely go to http://www.xanga.com/CaraDOOM .

    Good times for all…

Edit: Be sure to accept the CaraDOOM friend invite.  Once they’re all accepted, I’m going to make Cara’s blog so only friends can view it.

  • Blargh.

Moving stuff out of house…hardly any sleep…20 hour drive to Pennsylvania in an hour, alone with a possibly very cranky Cara…

I think this time I’ll actually stop about half-way and get some sleep at a hotel.  I usually drive most of the way and only stop for power naps at reststops, but I have Cara with me this time, and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t want to be stuck in her carseat for that long.

So yeah…we’ll be up sometime Saturday.  Fun times!

*goes off to grab one last power nap before the drive of DOOM!!*

…crap.  Just realized I haven’t even packed yet.  Forget that nap…it’s COFFEE TIME!!!

  • Clarification!

Wow…I didn’t realize until Kellie left that comment that I may have neglected to convey some rather important information.  So here we go!

Patrick and I are moving to a new base.  In Turkey.  For 2 years.

We’ll be coming state-side again after that, so don’t worry…you’ll get to see Cara again.  And we’ll most likely be taking leave a time or two to come back and visit everyone.

So yeah…there you go.  We’re scheduled to fly over November 1st, but before that I’ll be bringing Tsume to Mom and Dad (because the trip overseas would be waaaay to hard on him with his epilepsy).  Also Cara and I will be there for Heather’s wedding, but Patrick won’t be able to make it because he has work stuff to do down here.  Plus, he’ll be the one closing on the house at the end of this month.  (We have a buyer!  Possibly 2!  LET THE BIDDING WAR BEGIN!!)

…and I think that about covers it.  I’ll keep you updated on everything.  And I’ll see you at the end of September!

  • Blargh…

Long story short: we’re (hopefully!) selling the house tomorrow to some very nice people we know from the church on-base.  But we had 2 other showings before they came, so I’m wiped out…

Off to sleep.  I’ll let you all know tomorrow how the negotiations went.

    Night all.

August 17, 2008

  • Hey all!  Sorry I’ve been MIA all week.  We’re trying to finish cleaning up the house, and it’s taking a lot longer than I thought it would.  Sooo much CRAP!  I didn’t realize how much of a pack-rat I was.  Still, I must say…if you ever need inspiration to clean out a bunch of crap, watch “Clean House” on the Style network.  Just from the library (our dumping ground for stuff we didn’t want to deal with at the time) I ended up taking out about 15 full garbage bags worth of junk.

In other news, Dad’s been bugging me to put up more pictures of Cara.  So…here we go!

“Whoa…exploding ravioli.”  (Messy eater!  Needless to say, this became a bath night.)

    100_1793

If there is such a thing as “shy-joy”, I think this is it.

    100_1794

Ponytail!  Except her hair is so fine, it won’t stay put…

    100_1796

I swear to you, I didn’t pose her.  She crawled into the laundry basket all by herself…all I did was put a few more clothes in.

    100_1801

    Drumming lessons from Daddy!

Well, that’s about it for now.  I have more cleaning to do.

    Later!

August 3, 2008

  • Well, I said I’d get Cara’s hair in pigtails.  Sure enough, after several minutes of wrestling, I did it.  I now present…

    Cuteness Overload!!

    Picture 063

I swear…I think she’s starting to realize what it is a camera does and now poses with the sole purpose of making the entire world go “Awwwww!”

    Picture 064

It’s also highly possible she’s teething again, since I couldn’t get her fingers out of her mouth for anything…

And…that’s it.  I’m slightly drunk and very tired, so I’m off to bed.  Night all!

  • Real quick (because I need to take a nap before work but I promised…)

    Pictures!

    Picture 061

She has a bunch of cute new outfits now that she’s getting bigger…but for the life of me I couldn’t get her to turn around.

    Picture 062

Cara’s impression of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill…all she needs is the blade and a mask!  (That’s actually a dress she’s wearing, but she managed to get her arms out and it just kind of fell down.  And got turned backwards somehow…)

July 22, 2008

  • Well, we’re back from vacation…and I already feel like I need another one!  Don’t get me wrong, I had fun…but it seemed like we were running all over the place.

Let’s see, what else is new?  Oh, Cara’s teething again.  This time it’s her top molars, so she’ll be able to actually chew her food soon.  We’ve starting giving her more “adult” food, which she seems to get a real kick out of.  Patrick’s mom gave her a haircut while we were there (don’t worry Kellie…just another bang trim ).  Cara’s hair is long enough now that I can put it in a little ponytail.  I think I’ll go buy her some toddler hair ties and take a picture of her in pigtails…if I can get her to hold still long enough to get it done.

Cara’s new thing is to randomly throw things over her shoulder.  It’s cute, but also a little weird.

Hmm…can’t think of anything else right now.  I have tonight off, so I’ll probably jump on WoW and earn the rest of the gold I need for my Epic Flight Form (and yes…it is as awesome as it sounds ).

Pictures to come some time this week.  Yay!

    Nighty-night kids.

July 8, 2008

  • Wow…it’s been quite a while since I last posted, huh?  Guess I should try to write something interesting.

We thought the van was dead for a while.  It had the equivalent of an automotive stroke and all the electrical stuff shorted out and wouldn’t work.  Turned out it was the alternator and some little sensor thing that controls how much gas gets set to the engine.  Patrick replaced them both (so handy!) and now the van runs again.  Happy times.

Oh, we’re going to Virginia next week for a little break.  We’ve been so busy with the house and work and crap like that we’re definitely overdue for a vacation.  Patrick’s mom is going to take Cara for a day or two, so Patrick and I can get a super-duper extra break.  It’s going to be a little weird, though.  Since Cara was born, I haven’t been away from her for more than a few hours.  Even when I had that 12-hour shift before Patrick got back from Guam, I still stopped by Sandi’s (the sitter) house for 2 hours and played with Cara.  Hopefully Cara (and I!) make it through okay.

Huh…I seem to have run out of things to say.  I’d say “Pictures!”, but I don’t have any uploaded right now.  Maybe later…after I get some sleep.

    Bye for now!

P.S. – Poison ivy is all gone.  Yay!

June 19, 2008

  • And the saga continues…

Went back to the hospital today because I itch worse than I did before.  Patrick, Mom and I thought that it was an allergic reaction to one of the medications they gave me, but no…I’m just extrodinarily sensitive to poison ivy.  The additional rashes I have are from tearing up my skin by scratching.

So they gave me a stronger dose of the steroid pills to take, as well as some more antihistimine for the itching.

It looks pretty painful and itches like sin.

Oh, and I ended up buying the Sweeny Todd soundtrack for the movie so I could listen to the music around Cara without scarring her for life.

She actually enjoys the music…sometimes she kicks her legs in time with it, but it doesn’t happen too often.

That’s it for now.  Not really anything exciting happening except my battle with the poison ivy…which will meet its maker this weekend when I buy the weed killer.

    Whoo!
